I have been going to St Anne in Bukit Mertajam on the mainland every year as long as I can remember. Every year around Jul 26; thousands of people from all over the country will do pilgrimage to this obscure church in Penang. St Anne is the grandmother of Jesus Christ. Often you will find people begging on the streets along the road and up the stairs. Do not look down on them, most of them are just honoring their pledge.
