Penang Bayan Lepas Road Closure

I was caught in a massive jam in Bayan Baru today. A colleague forwarded the following information to me. The closure is from Aug 15, 2015 until Jan 14, 2016. Attached is the proposal of alternate routes in the attached document takes effect from Monday to Friday. The Member of Parliament for Bayan Baru, Sim Tze Tzin is working alleviate the problem.

Impression of Singapore

A couple of weeks ago, I had an opportunity to go on a trip to Singapore. I have not been to the city state for more than 15 years and was interested in seeing how it has changed. The first impression was when we landed. By the time we reached the baggage claim area, our bags were ready for us. I have not seen such efficient baggage handling anywhere else. Usually, you had to wait at least five to ten minutes before the first bag will appear on the carousel. On the way to our hotel, the driver told us that they were still not satisfied with their performance and are working on improving the number of flights they can handle. There are two runways at the airport - one for landing and one for takeoff. We only went around the area around our hotel. There were many underground walkways joining the MRT (train) and also the various building. One of these areas was large enough for the children and teenagers spend their time roller blading and break dance without having to worry about

The bus stop

It's been a while since I took the bus in Penang. Several years back, there was a new bus company that was transferred from Kuala Lumpur to Penang called Rapid. This company was to improve the public transport in Penang. It's been more than a year since Rapid Penang service started (July 2007). Since my children wanted to go to town and my car was temporary unavailable, I thought I would take the opportunity to see if the public transport in Penang has improved. We left the house about 12:15 pm and approached the bus stop. When we reached the bus stop, there were about 11 persons there (two senior citizens, 3 children included). We spoke to them and they told me that they have been waiting there for more than 15 minutes but have not seen a single bus throughout that time - passing either side of the road. They were visitor from Medan in Indonesia. This is the busiest road in Penang and yet not a single bus passed by the road for more than 20 minutes unbelievable. My children an
