Different Parts of Our Body Age At Different Times

Received this from a colleague: WE all accept that getting older is inevitable, and now leading clinicians have revealed the exact age when different body parts start to decline, most alarming being the brain and lungs. French doctors have found that the quality of man's sperm starts to deteriorate by 35, so that by the time a man is 45 a third of pregnancies end in miscarriage. Here, with the help of leading clinicians, Angela Epstein tells the Daily Mail the ages when different parts of the body start to lose their battle with time. BRAIN - Starts aging at 20 As we get older, the number of nerve cells - or neurons - in the brain decrease. We start with around 100 billion, but in our 20s this number starts to decline. By 40, we could be losing up to 10,000 per day, affecting memory, co-ordination and brain function. GUT - Starts aging at 55. A healthy gut has a good balance between harmful and 'friendly' bacteria. But levels of friendly bacteria in the gut drop significant

NAILS IN THE FENCE

Received this from a friend - posted it a bit late. National Friendship week is on Aug 2, 2009 (one week late). Make sure you read all the way down to the last sentence. (Most importantly the last sentence) There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the h

$20/- Sometimes we just need to be Reminded!

Received the following in the mail: $20.00 - Sometimes we just need to be reminded! A well-known speaker started off his seminar by: holding up a $20.00 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, 'Who would like this $20 bill?' Hands started going up.. He said, 'I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this. He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill. He then asked, 'Who still wants it?' Still the hands were up in the air. Well, he replied, 'What if I do this?' And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe.. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. 'Now, who still wants it?' Still the hands went into the air. My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the

Prison vs Working Place

I received the following in the mail and thought of sharing it. Prison Working Place You spend the majority of your time in an 8'X10' cell You spend most of your time in a 6'X8' cubicle You get three meals a day (free) You only get a break for one meal and probably have to pay for it yourself You get time off for good behavior. You get rewarded for good behavior with more WORK. A guard locks and unlocks the doors for you You must carry around a security card and unlock open all the doors yourself You can watch TV and play games. You get fired for watching TV and playing games. They allow your family and friends to visit. You can not even speak to your family and friends. All expenses are paid by taxpayers with no work at all. You get to pay all the expenses to go to work and then they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for the prisoners.

Agony of a caged runner

Its been two months since I was training to be the fastest man on earth. As I mentioned in that blog, I retired after I was mugged. I found that I can't just quit. My body has adjusted and is absorbing and building up a lot of energy in itself. Every thing I eat or drink just increases the energy in my body. I feel like a balloon all bloated. It also cause me to feel very lethargic and sleepy. As I try to drink coffee to keep awake I feel worst. Just like trying to pump more air to a balloon that is already fully inflated. My head just feels like exploding. I managed to get a few short runs recently, which helps quite a bit. If only I can get more running sessions!! I need to burn all these excess calories stored in my body.
